Viasat FAQs

A "good internet speed" can be different for everyone depending on what you use the internet for, and with Viasat, you can have speeds between 12Mbps and 100Mbps with your internet plan. Depending on your location, time of day, number of devices connected and number of users online simultaneously, your internet speeds will likely vary.
Several factors can affect the results of your speed test, but generally, internet tests like the one on this page are a helpful way to estimate your upload and download speeds. To increase the accuracy of your speed test, be sure to follow these steps prior to beginning: restart your modem and router, stop any internet use, restart your computer, and clear your web browser’s cache. If your results are a little above or below your plan's listed speeds, don't be too alarmed as this is common. However, if your speeds are consistently much slower than the plan you're paying for, you may want to consider calling Viasat at the appropriate number above for help.
Typically, no more than a minute. Internet speed tests can present your upload and download speed results relatively quickly, and ours will also show you the latency you are experiencing.
If your internet speed test results are a bit below what you had expected, you can try moving your router to a more central location in your home, adding a WiFi extender, and even just turning your modem off and on again. If after trying those changes you're still looking for faster speeds, consider comparing other internet plans using our search tool that may be a better fit for you.
Understanding the different types of home internet can be really helpful when comparing all the options for internet service in front of you. Satellite internet is very versatile and accessible, however, it is also typically slower and more expensive than other types of internet such as cable or fiber optic.
Your internet speeds could be slowed due to several reasons. You may want to consider internet congestion, website/server limitations, corrupted web browsers, adware or spyware, wired vs. wireless connection, the type of modem you're using, your computer's processing speed, and your operating system's efficiency if you are struggling with slowed internet speeds.
