About Xfinity Internet Speeds

Xfinity from Comcast is one of the nation’s biggest cable companies. On top of providing cable TV to many parts of the country, Xfinity is also a leading internet service provider. They primarily offer cable internet and hybrid fiber-coax internet (with limited availability).

Xfinity provides customers with blazing fast internet speeds. In fact, according to the latest reports from the FCC, Xfinity’s download speeds are the fastest available. While their upload speeds might not be quite as fast, they are fast enough to handle most internet user’s demands.

To start your Xfinity Speed Test simply click on “Start Speed Test” above. After a brief moment, your result will pop up. For more details after the test, click on “Show More Info.” Here you’ll see the download speeds, upload speeds, and the location of the server you are connected to.

Xfinity FAQs

In general, a good download speed for the average household is 25-50Mbps. Simple web browsing can be done via a connection as slow as 1Mbps,while video streaming requires 3-25Mbps, and video calling requires about 3-6Mbps. Keep in mind that your internet connection speed can drag as you add people and devices to it.

Ideally, you want the test results of your Xfinity internet speed test to show that you are getting 90%-100% of the maximum speeds you are paying for. In general, the more you pay, the faster your internet will be.

So, if you signed up for Xfinity’s 400Mbps cable internet, hopefully you’re testing with speeds of at least 360Mbps. Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for internet speeds to underperform at around 70%-80% of full-speed potential. So, if your test results are within this range, it’s not necessarily a sign that something is wrong. Try testing later to see if your results are faster.

Our Xfinity speed test provides you with a ballpark estimate of your current internet speed. In order to get the most accurate test, be sure to restart your modem and router, pause all internet use, restart your computer, and clear your web browser’s cache before starting the test.
Speed tests are relatively quick, usually taking less than a minute to present your upload and download speed results.
If you’re not impressed with your current internet speeds, you can try moving your router to a more central location, adding a WiFi extender, and simply turning your modem off and on again. Downloading denotes getting information and data from other places, while uploading is sending data and information. Advertised internet speeds tend to be more about download speeds as this is what people tend to do when using the internet. We are generally less patient about waiting for things to come to us than we are waiting for our stuff to be sent out to the world.
Your internet speeds could be lagging for several reasons. Do you have a greater number of devices connected? Are there more people online than usual? Has the amount of video content streaming increased? Any of these factors and more could be limiting your current speeds. Xfinity’s network could also be bogged down by an extraordinary amount of traffic.
