Cricket Customer Service Ranking & Reputation

J.D. Power's 2023 wireless customer care study puts Cricket Wireless in second place for customer satisfaction among the standard MVNOs (distinguished from "value" MVNOs) with a ranking of 830 points (out of a maximum 1,000 points). This exceeds the segment average of 822 points and is just two points behind segment leader Metro by T-Mobile (832 points). In fact, Cricket's customer service beats out competitors like Boost Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, and Xfinity Mobile, and puts Cricket ahead of all three major carriers' satisfaction results: AT&T came in at 788, Verizon scored 794, and T-Mobile scored 829 points.

Why Choose Cricket Wireless?

Cricket Wireless is one of the largest prepaid MVNOs on the market, and is owned and operated by AT&T, the biggest telecom company in the United States. As such, Cricket offers excellent coverage on AT&T's network, and the reliability that comes with the backing of such a wireless behemoth. In our review, we found that Cricket offers affordable plans that deliver fast speeds for those in urban and populated areas (but not so great in rural locations), attractive international calling benefits, and one of the biggest phone selections among prepaid carriers. Cricket is an excellent alternative for budget-minded buyers who want AT&T coverage without paying AT&T prices.

Cricket Wireless Coverage

Cricket Wireless is a mobile virtual network operator, which means it provides service using another carrier's towers. Cricket is owned by AT&T and therefore operates on both its 4G LTE and 5G nationwide networks. This means that Cricket offers the same coverage as its larger counterpart, which falls right in the middle of the pack when compared to the networks of competitors Verizon and AT&T. What does this mean for you? With Cricket, most customers in urban and suburban areas should have great coverage, though 5G may be sparse and 5G speeds lag behind those of leader T-Mobile. Rural customers may find coverage spottier with Cricket. Check out our guide to U.S. phone network coverage to see which major network has the strongest footprint near you.

Switching to Cricket

Switching to Cricket Wireless is simple—you can even bring your own phone with you to the network as long as it is compatible. First, check your phone's compatibility using your EMEI number or pick out a new phone to purchase directly from Cricket (hint: you can snag some exclusive phone deals when you switch to Cricket!). Then select your preferred plan and enter your phone number, if you're bringing it with you to the network. Lastly, wait for your Cricket SIM card to arrive and visit the carrier's activation page, or follow the prompts for activating your phone's eSIM.

Cricket Wireless offers several phone plans. Most plans include unlimited talk, text, and data, but there are options for those who want a smaller amount of data for a cheaper price. There are also several plans with a hefty amount of mobile hotspot data for working and streaming on the go. If you frequently make calls internationally, there are also add-on options that offer calling to Mexico and Canada.

We break down all of the details you need in our Cricket Wireless review.
