Best Cricket Wireless Plans

1. Best overall plan: Supreme Unlimited

Cricket
Cricket

Supreme Unlimited Plan

  • Unlimited 4G LTE/5G data
  • 50GB mobile hotspot data
$55.00/mo
with AutoPay; $60 for the first month.
+ $9.99 Upfront

Cricket's top-tier $55/month Supreme Unlimited plan provides all the extras with unlimited premium data, a 50GB hotspot, and free HBO Max.

Reasons to buy

  • Unlimited premium data
  • 50GB of hotspot data
  • Free HBO Max subscription
  • Full data roaming in Mexico and Canada
  • 150GB of cloud storage

Reasons to avoid

  • Standard quality video streaming
  • HBO Max includes ads

Why it's the best plan

Normally, MVNOs don’t provide many perks, but the fully-loaded Cricket Wireless Supreme Unlimited plan proves an exception to the rule. For $55/month, you’ll enjoy truly unlimited talk, text, and data with no deprioritization or throttling. It’s the only Cricket plan to include unlimited premium data for guaranteed fast speeds all month. Plus, it includes data roaming in Mexico and Canada, as well as international texting to over 200 countries.

The Supreme Unlimited plan offers even more perks with 150GB of cloud storage and a massive 50GB of dedicated high-speed hotspot data. Without a doubt, it’s Cricket’s best hotspot plan. That’s more than enough hotspot data to work away from home or stream on your laptop or tablet. Plus, you get a free HBO Max Basic subscription. You’ll have to put up with ads since it’s a basic subscription, but that’s a value of $109.99/year free of cost.

The bottom line

Supreme Unlimited is Cricket’s superior plan and best option, especially considering no other cheap plans from MVNOs include free streaming subscriptions.

2. Best budget unlimited plan: Smart Unlimited

Cricket
Cricket

Smart Unlimited Plan

  • Unlimited 4G LTE/5G data
  • 15GB mobile hotspot data
$45.00/mo
with AutoPay; $50 for the first month.
+ $9.99 Upfront

Cricket's mid-tier $45/month Smart Unlimited plan balances unlimited data, generous 15GB hotspot data, and full roaming in Mexico and Canada.

Reasons to buy

  • Unlimited data on AT&T's 4G LTE and 5G networks
  • 15GB of hotspot data
  • Data roaming in Mexico and Canada
  • Unlimited texting to 200+ countries
  • 100GB of cloud storage

Reasons to avoid

  • No premium data

Why it’s the best budget unlimited option

Cricket’s Smart Unlimited plan lives up to its name as a practical phone plan for the average user. For $50/month, it includes unlimited talk, text, data, and a generous 15GB hotspot. At $10/month cheaper than Cricket’s most expensive plan, Smart Unlimited gets you access to AT&T’s 5G network and extensive 4G LTE coverage in both urban and rural areas. There is one caveat: The Smart Unlimited plan includes deprioritized data. That means Cricket might slow your speeds if the network is busy, but it isn’t a guarantee you’ll deal with slower speeds. In fact, after a full month of testing, we didn't experience slow speeds on Cricket’s Smart Unlimited plan. Quite the contrary, our expert had better and more consistent coverage with Cricket than with other T-Mobile and Verizon MVNOs

Your data isn’t limited to the United States either with Cricket’s Smart Unlimited plan. Full roaming in Mexico and Canada is included wherever there’s coverage, allowing you to use your data in both countries. Plus, you also get international texting to over 200 locations and 100GB of cloud storage. Although you’ll miss out on the free HBO Max subscription, Cricket’s cheaper Smart Unlimited saves you $120/year.

The bottom line

Smart Unlimited is the logical choice for most people, and still provides unlimited data and more than enough hotspot use to get you through the month comfortably. Despite the deprioritization caveat, we found the service to be flawlessly consistent during a month of testing, delivering speeds and coverage superior to competing MVNOs.

3. Best plan for families: Select Unlimited

Cricket
Cricket

Select Unlimited Plan

  • Unlimited 4G LTE/5G data
  • No mobile hotspot data
$35.00/mo
with AutoPay; $40 for the first month.
+ $9.99 Upfront

The most cost-effective family plan is Cricket's Select Unlimited option, totalling $100/month for four lines.

Reasons to buy

  • Unlimited data on AT&T's network
  • Best 4-line price

Reasons to avoid

  • Deprioritized data that can be slowed at busy times
  • No perks

Why it’s the best multi-line plan

Cricket’s Select Unlimited plan is the go-to for families who want unlimited data without an expensive price tag. Normally $35/month for a single line, the price of Select Unlimited lowers to just $25/line for a family of four, or $100/month total. That’s one of the cheapest available unlimited plans with four lines. You get all the basics too: unlimited talk, text, and data.

While data is unlimited with this plan, Cricket may deprioritize your data when the network is busy. That means you might get slower speeds early in the morning or in the evening when most people connect. However, our expert noted that she never experienced dips in her data speed, never had a dropped video call while on the road, and enjoyed seamless streaming wherever she went.

The bottom line

The Cricket Select Unlimited plan covers all the essentials for one low, predictable price. If your family needs reliable coverage on AT&T's network but wants to avoid the high cost of a mobile hotspot and premium data, this plan is the most practical option available.

4. Best cheap data plan: Sensible 10GB

Cricket
Cricket

Sensible 10GB Plan

  • 10GB 4G LTE/5G data
  • No mobile hotspot data
$30.00/mo
with AutoPay
+ $9.99 Upfront

The Sensible 10GB plan is Cricket's most affordable premium data option at $30/month.

Reasons to buy

  • Access to AT&T's 4G LTE and 5G networks
  • Cricket's cheapest plan with premium data

Reasons to avoid

  • No add-ons available

Why it’s the best cheap data option

The Sensible 10GB plan is the cheapest Cricket plan. For just $30/month, the Sensible 10GB plan includes 10GB of high-speed data along with unlimited talk and text. With 5G access at no extra charge, you get fast mobile connectivity on AT&T’s 5G and 4G LTE network. The Sensible 10GB plan offers enough data for most users and costs half the price of Cricket’s most expensive plan. Since most Americans don’t need unlimited data, this plan is ideal for users looking to save on their monthly phone bill.

Before you settle on Cricket’s Sensible 10GB plan, calculate your data needs to see if you’ll have enough data for the month. Every extra GB you add runs you an additional $10/month. You can easily pay double or triple the original plan price by adding three or more gigabytes. If you frequently find yourself upping your data allotment or are in need of a hotspot, consider upgrading to Select Unlimited or Smart Unlimited for $5–$15/month more.

The bottom line

The $30/month Sensible 10GB plan is Cricket's most affordable way to snag 10GB of premium data on the AT&T network. It offers faster speeds than cheaper, deprioritized unlimited options. It's the best choice for budget-conscious users who prioritize reliable speed and use Wi-Fi at home.

Why pick a Cricket Wireless plan?

Cricket coverage map.
Cricket Wireless operates on AT&T 5G and 4G LTE towers, providing the same great coverage.
Image: Cricket

Cricket Wireless is an AT&T MVNO, meaning that it operates on AT&T’s 5G and 4G LTE networks. Boasting the second-largest 5G network in the nation, Cricket 5G plans get top speeds. We even saw speeds of 314.40Mbps on Cricket’s 5G network. AT&T covers 41.44% of the United States, less than 9% behind T-Mobile. Cricket also offers a respectable 68% 4G LTE coverage.

Cricket Wireless offers affordable plans with outstanding signal strength in cities, the countryside, and everywhere in between. In testing, Cricket’s average download speeds sat around 200Mbps on mobile internet with Cricket Wireless’ 4G LTE in real-world benchmarks.

Check AT&T coverage in your area with our interactive map below. Toggle between 5G and 4G maps, and zoom in on your neighborhood or workplace to check how strong the signal is. The deeper the purple, the better the coverage.

How to switch to Cricket Wireless

Switching to Cricket Wireless is a quick and easy process. You can sign up online or opt for in-person support at one of Cricket’s numerous locations. The steps will vary slightly depending on whether you’re bringing your phone to Cricket or opting for a new one. You can also choose between using a physical SIM card or activating an eSIM with a simple QR code. Check out our guide on eSIMs and activation for more information.

Cricket provides plenty of handsets ranging from older models like the iPhone 15 to the cutting-edge iPhone 17 series. Android enthusiasts can also pick from Samsung Galaxy flagships, budget-priced Motorola phones, and top Pixel phones. You can even snag a new phone for cheap with Cricket’s phone deals.

Bring your own device (BYOD) to Cricket

If you’re happy with your current phone, you can also bring it to Cricket. Start by making sure your phone is compatible with Cricket’s network. Most modern smartphones should work just fine, but double-check compatibility by entering your phone’s IMEI in Cricket’s checker. If it isn’t compatible, follow our instructions on how to unlock your phone before you continue switching.

Next, you’ll need to pick out a Cricket phone plan. We recommend Supreme Unlimited if you want premium data, a massive hotspot, and free HBO Max. But don’t cancel your current phone plan just yet, since you’ll need to port out your number (if you want to keep it). Once you’ve ported in your number, you can then activate your plan. It only takes two minutes to activate your eSIM. Otherwise, you can wait for your physical card in the mail.

Does Cricket Wireless offer family plans?

Cricket Wireless offers family plans on all of its phone plans, but only its unlimited plan offers multi-line discounts. Save more by adding up to 5 lines on any Cricket plan, with the Select Unlimited plan offering the best bundling value. Pay as little as $25/line each month with four lines, totalling only $100/month, making it one of Cricket’s cheapest plans.

Here’s how Cricket’s family plan discounts compare:

Choose any of Cricket’s phone plans for a family plan, but only its unlimited plans offer multi-line discounts. For example, no matter how many lines you add, the Sensible 10GB plan remains at $30/month for each line. But, with four lines, both of Cricket Wireless’s Smart Unlimited and Select Unlimited plans are actually cheaper per line than Cricket’s Sensible 10GB offering. That’s less than $30/month for unlimited data when you get four lines.

That said, with the Supreme Unlimited option at only $2.50/line more (with three lines), the upgrade might be worth the free HBO Max and massive hotspot—but only if that perk fits with your needs. We don’t recommend choosing high-cost unlimited plans if you don’t actually want the perks.

You should consider the number of lines you need, price per line, and additional perks when figuring out which is the best Cricket Wireless family plan for you.

Cricket Wireless’ international cell phone plans

Cricket includes some amazing international perks with its upper-tier unlimited plans. Both the Smart Unlimited and Supreme Unlimited plans include unlimited talk and text from the United States to Mexico and Canada. You also get unlimited texting to over 200 other international destinations. Data roaming is another major benefit on both plans. Your data works seamlessly in Mexico and Canada at no extra cost. Cricket plan alternatives

Cricket Wireless's plans are highly competitive among MVNOs, especially when compared against major rivals like Mint Mobile and Visible. Looking at each carrier's unlimited plans side-by-side, Cricket's offerings may be slightly more expensive, but offer much more. The top-tier $55/month Supreme Unlimited plan includes everything you need in a single cell phone bill: streaming services, data roaming, international texting, and free cloud storage too.

But price isn't the only difference when looking at Cricket, Mint, and Visible.

Cricket includes free streaming subscriptions

Cricket includes the best perks among competitors with a free streaming subscription to HBO Max. While entertainment perks are usually reserved for more expensive major carrier plans, you can get HBO Max and great cell service at a fraction of the price. That's a value of $109.99/year free of charge since it's included in your plan. Watch your favorite shows and films with the whole family with the Cricket Spreme Unlimited plan.

Cricket offers more high-speed hotspot data

Cricket's unlimited plans offer high-speed hotspot allowances: 15GB on its $50/month Smart Unlimited plan, and 50GB with the $60/month Supreme Unlimited plan. When compared with Mint and Visible, Cricket offers more data and faster hotspot speeds. Mint Mobile's unlimited plan only includes 10GB of hotspot data (less than both of Cricket's top offerings), whereas Visible offers unlimited hotspot data but at capped speeds.

How to evaluate
a Cricket plan

Cricket Wireless offers a range of plans, but choosing the right tier depends primarily on premium data, international features, and plan perks. Keep these questions in mind when picking the right Cricket plan for you.

What to look for

  • How much unlimited data do I need?
  • How much unlimited data you need depends on your digital habits. If you don't use your phone away from Wi-Fi frequently, Cricket's Sensible 10GB plan is ideal. However, if you use social media and stream videos throughout the day, choose an unlimited plan with premium data. Cricket's Supreme Unlimited option offers unlimited premium data to guarantee fast speeds, no matter how busy the networks get.
  • Can I get by with fewer perks?
You can get by with fewer perks, but you can save even more each month if you choose a plan that bundles perks and service. The Supreme Unlimited Cricket plan includes a free subscription to HBO Max (valued at $109.99/year) and free cloud storage. By choosing a plan with useful perks, you don't have to pay extra for more services.

What to avoid

  • Unlimited data for the sake of unlimited data.
Most people don't need unlimited premium data, especially if they have access to reliable high-speed Wi-Fi. Since the average American only uses around 10–15GB of data per month, any of Cricket's lower-tier plans offer more than enough data. Unless you are a heavy data user who frequently games or streams HD video in congested areas, the deprioritized data on $35/month Select Unlimited plan and $45/month Smart Unlimited plan provides excellent value.

How we picked the best unlimited plans

Each of our plan picks is underpinned by extensive first-hand testing and review of Cricket's features and performance. Our team evaluates phone plans based on the following criteria:

  • Price & value: Not all cheap plans are “bad,” and not all expensive plans are worth it. We look at everything a plan includes and compare it both to other plans from the same carrier, as well as similar plans from competitors in the market, to determine whether the value is consistent with the price.
  • High-speed data: Also called “premium” data, this is how much data you get at full 4G/5G speeds before they can or will slow down. The more guaranteed high-speed data the plan includes, the better experience you’ll generally have—but there’s also usually a limit to how much you actually need, and we recommend that you not overpay for data that you won't use.
  • Coverage & network reliability: The breadth of each carrier’s 4G LTE and 5G networks determines your reception and service. Particularly in the case of 5G, some carriers offer far more robust coverage than others, which affects how their phone plans perform in different parts of the country.
  • Plan extras & perks: In addition to the basics—talk, text, and data—some plans throw in freebies like hotspot allowances, cloud storage, entertainment subscriptions, or service discounts.

Our mobile experts tested Cricket's Unlimited Smart plan and network extensively. In addition to running speed tests, tethering to the hotspot, and analyzing coverage reliability, we also leveraged proprietary data and real-world customer feedback to evaluate plan options, cost, and inclusions. We considered plan-specific elements, including perks, premium data allowances, and mobile hotspot allocations. After our hands-on testing and extensive research, we picked the best plans we feel meet the needs of most people.
