Compare Free iPhone Deals

Getting a free iPhone in 2026 comes down to one of three paths: switch carriers, trade in an eligible device, or take advantage of a buy-one-get-one promotion. Carriers like T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T rarely knock the price off at checkout. Instead, they spread the savings across 24 to 36 monthly bill credits. That means a free iPhone 18 Pro deal isn't really $0 out the door; it's $0 upfront, with the phone's full cost quietly wiped out one bill credit at a time, as long as you keep the line active and stay on the required plan.

That's exactly why our tool above sorts every free and $0-down iPhone deal by upfront cost instead of sticker price. You'll see which offers require a trade-in, which ones are open to new customers only, and which ones will actually cost you $0 today.

Free iPhone when you switch carriers

If you're not tied to your current carrier, switching is usually the fastest way to score a free iPhone with no trade-in required. New-customer promotions tend to be the most generous deals on the market, because carriers are fighting to win your business, and your phone number. Watch for phrases like "new line" or "port-in required" in the fine print. That's your signal that switching, not trading in, unlocks the discount.

Free iPhone with trade-in

Trading in an old device is the other major path to a free iPhone, and you don't necessarily need a recent model to qualify. Many trade-in deals accept older iPhones, and some carriers will even give you credit for a phone with a cracked screen or a worn-out battery. Here's the catch: the newer and higher-storage the iPhone you're after, the more valuable your trade-in usually needs to be.

$0 down iPhone deals with no credit check

Worried about qualifying? Not every free iPhone deal runs a credit check. Prepaid carriers and some MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) offer $0 down iPhone deals with no credit check, though you'll usually pay a bit more per month on the plan to offset that flexibility.

Frequently asked questions

Is a "free iPhone" actually free?

Usually not entirely. Most free iPhone deals are financed through 24 to 36 monthly bill credits tied to a specific plan, a new line, or a trade-in. If you cancel the line or downgrade the plan before the term ends, the remaining balance can become due immediately.

Can I get a free iPhone with no trade-in?

Yes. New-line and switching promotions, especially from T-Mobile, often waive the trade-in requirement entirely, though the credit amount is sometimes lower than trade-in-based offers.

Can I get a free iPhone with no credit check?

Some prepaid carriers and MVNOs offer $0-down iPhone financing without a hard credit check, typically in exchange for a slightly higher monthly plan rate.

What if I just need a free phone, not specifically an iPhone?

If cost matters more than the brand, it's worth widening your search. Government assistance programs like Lifeline can provide a free basic smartphone to qualifying low-income households.
