What's new with the Google Pixel 7a?

Here's a glance at some of the new features and improvements for the Pixel 7a.

Cameras

Cameras have always been the bread and butter of Pixel phones, so naturally, the Pixel 7a comes with some significant camera upgrades. One of the biggest upgrades is the new main camera, which is 72% larger than the previous 6a's main sensor. This helps improve low-light photography by taking in 44% more light.

All cameras (main, ultrawide, and front) also get a bit of a bump to 13MP. Plus, the main camera can not take long-exposure pictures to help add texture to your photos.

For video, the ultrawide camera is now able to record in 4k at 30fps.

More AI

Google Pixel 7a users get to take advantage of some of the AI features the Pixel 7 has featured (you can learn more in our Pixel 7 Pro review) for some time now. These include:

  • Direct My Call
  • Wait Times
  • Hold for Me
  • And more!

Wireless charging

No need for that charging cable! Wireless charging isn't new to smartphones, but it is new to the Pixel a-series. Last year's Pixel 6a did not feature wireless charging. As far as power goes, this is the only big change. Battery life is expected to stay the same—even though the Pixel 7a's battery is slightly smaller.

Who is the Pixel 7a for?

Anybody looking for a budget-friendly phone with flagship-like features should consider the Google Pixel 7a. You should especially think about buying this affordable phone if you want the best smartphone camera system without having to pay more than $500. The a-series has been a popular set of phones because of the relatively low price and great specs that come with it. The Pixel 7a is no exception. Purchase with confidence!
