WhistleOut fast facts
- Ultra Mobile's unlimited plans will now offer unlimited high-speed data, though heavier data users may experience slower speeds during network congestion.
- The carrier operates on the nationwide T-Mobile network, which is the largest 5G network in the country.
- Uncapped unlimited plans are hard to find outside of expensive options from major carriers.
UPDATE 10/2/24: Android Authority noted that Ultra's unlimited plans might now be uncapped, but they're not guaranteeing unlimited full-speed data. The plan includes a provision stating that users who exceed 35GB of data per month "may notice slower speeds when our network is busy."
Ultra Mobile announced that it will offer uncapped data speeds on all unlimited data plans. Previously, Ultra’s Unlimited and Unlimited+ plans throttled speeds after users exceeded their monthly high-speed limits. Now, users will receive full-speed service, though heavier data users (those who use more than 35GB in a month) "may notice slower speeds when our network is busy."

Ultra Mobile is an MVNO operating on the T-Mobile network, which includes the country's largest 5G network. The plans follow the model of some of parent company's T-Mobile’s unlimited plans that include deprioritization, which slows customer data during busier times of the day.
Uncapped plans rare for MVNOs
Ultra’s announcement is a welcome surprise for mobile customers, who typically only see uncapped unlimited plans from major carriers’ more expensive plans. US Mobile’s most generous unlimited plan, the Unlimited Premium Plan, throttles speeds to 1Mbps after users exceed 100GB. Tello’s Unlimited Text, Talk, and Data Plan throttles to a screeching 256Kbps after just 50GB.
