Verizon to Reduce AutoPay Discount by 50% on Older Plans

The discount change will take effect on October 10th.

Many Verizon customers received an email Wednesday afternoon warning them of an impending decrease in the AutoPay discount on their Verizon phone plans. This change will decrease the discount from $10/month to $5/month, effectively increasing phone bills by $5/month.

Which Verizon customers lose their $10 AutoPay discount?

The Verizon AutoPay discount decrease on October 10th affects customers on several older Verizon plans. These plans include:

Play More Unlimited, Do More Unlimited, Get More Unlimited
Play More Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband, Do More Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband, Get More Unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband
5G Start, 5G Play More, 5G do More, 5G Get More
Go Unlimited, Beyond Unlimited, Above Unlimited
55+ Unlimited Plan, New Verizon Plan Unlimited

The base rates for these plans will remain the same. However, to many, this is essentially a $5/month phone bill increase.

Verizon myPlan AutoPay discount to remain the same

Verizon's current myPlan options (Ultimate Unlimited, Unlimited Plus, Unlimited Welcome) will not be affected by the change in AutoPay discount rates. The discount will remain at $10/month for these plans.

This move can be seen as a push to get customers to switch from older grandfathered plans to its newer offerings, similar to how AT&T recently raised prices on its older plans. Customers can switch to the newer plans but may lose perks such as the Disney bundle at no extra cost. The Disney bundle is available on myPlan for $10/month.
