BYO Phone Plans & DealsHow to keep your phone & switch carriers
Keeping your phone and switching carriers is a great way to save money and it's easier than you think. If you have an unlocked device from T-Mobile , AT&T, or Verizon or bought your phone outright, check out which carriers you can switch to by choosing one of the options below. Filter by data, talk & text minutes, and network to find the best plan for you.
Bringing your own phone when switching phone carriers is a process that allows you to keep your current device and use it with a new carrier. This is typically done when you want to switch carriers but don't want to purchase a new phone or be tied to a contract.
To switch carriers and bring your own phone, you will need:
Check if your phone is compatible with the new carrier's network: Not all phones are compatible with all carriers, so it's important to check if your phone will work with the new carrier's network. You can usually do this by entering your phone's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number on the carrier's website.
Get an unlock code (if needed): If your phone is locked to your current carrier, you must request an unlock code from them. This will allow you to use your phone with another carrier.
Get a new SIM card: If you purchased your plan online, the carrier will send you a physical SIM card or an eSIM. If you bought your plan in-person, you must pop the new SIM card into your phone.
Activate your new service: Once you have the new SIM card, you will need to activate your new service with the carrier. This usually involves creating a new account, choosing a plan, and entering your new phone number and SIM card information.
Test your phone: Once your new service is activated, you should test your phone to make sure everything is working correctly. Make a test call, send a text message, and check your data connection to ensure your phone is fully functional on the new carrier's network.
It's worth noting that while bringing your own phone can be a cost-effective way to switch carriers, not all carriers offer the same level of support for BYOP customers. Some carriers may not provide technical support or offer features like Wi-Fi calling or visual voicemail for BYOP customers, so it's essential to research and choose a carrier that will meet your needs.

Sharing data with carriers when searching for plans
WhistleOut’s internet coverage check requires that we verify serviceability at your address with carriers. When you click to purchase, we only pass verified addresses to a carrier and your address is loaded into the carrier’s shopping cart so that you can easily complete the purchase.
As part of California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) you are able to select that we do not sell this data to the carrier - this will also prevent us from validating your coverage with a carrier and setting up the address with the carrier if you choose to purchase.
