The $60 Unlimited Plan$50 Unlimited Plan, and 10GB Data Plan are our top picks for the best Metro by T-Mobile plans.

Metro by T Mobile, formerly Metro PCS, sells discounted phone plans on the T-Mobile network, giving Metro customers a cheaper way to be on the country's largest 5G network. Metro's plans are not the cheapest compared to other smaller carriers, but it tries to make up for the higher prices through extra perks such as free Amazon Prime. Keep reading to find the right Metro plan for you.

Best Metro by T-Mobile Plans

Metro doesn't have very many plans, making choosing the right Metro plan relatively easy for you. You won't be overwhelmed by too many options, but there are some differences you’ll want to know. Here is our pick for the best Metro by T-Mobile plan overall.

4 out of 5 overall

$50 Unlimited Plan | $50/month—Best Metro by T-Mobile plan overall

Metro's $50 Unlimited Plan the cheaper of the two unlimited plans offered by the MVNO. Along with unlimited talk, text, and data (speeds may be reduced after 35GB during heavy network congestion), the $50 unlimited plan includes 8GB of dedicated mobile hotspot data and 100GB of cloud storage via a Google One membership. Unlimited data will serve anyone who loves scrolling through TikTok or watching movies on Netflix well.

The price certainly encroaches on postpaid unlimited plans from the major carriers and is slightly higher than many other unlimited plans from MVNOs. However, the added perks could be worth the extra costs. See how Metro's unlimited plans stack up against our picks for the best prepaid plans.

  • Pros: Nice perks, generous deprioritization threshold
  • Cons: Expensive for an MVNO unlimited plan

4 out of 5 overall

$60 Unlimited Plan | $60/month—Best Metro plan for perks

Metro's top-tier unlimited plan is the more expensive at $60/month. If you find yourself ordering items online often, this option may be the perfect fit. For that extra $10/month, you get perks like 15GB of Metro mobile hotspot data and an Amazon Prime membership, which makes up for the higher price. These perks are on top of the 100GB Google One membership you also get with the $50 Unlimited plan. Often, what makes a plan stand out the most are the perks that come with the plan. This plan is our favorite from Metro when it comes to perks.

  • Pros: Amazon Prime membership included!
  • Cons: Metro's most expensive plan

10GB Data Plan | $40/month—Best Metro plan for average data user

Not everyone needs unlimited data. The average person is far better off purchasing a limited-data plan to avoid paying for data they'll never use. Our favorite Metro plan for the average data user is the 10GB Data Plan. This plan has a little more data than the average person uses per month, but we like the extra wiggle room. Unlike Metro's unlimited plans, this plan does not include much in the way of extra perks (no Google One or Amazon Prime memberships here). Still, with Music Unlimited, anyone on this plan can listen to music on several apps, including Spotify and Apple Music, without it counting against their data usage. However, the price is high for 10GB, considering several unlimited plans from other MVNOs go for about the same price.

  • Pros: Unlimited music streaming, more than enough data for the average user
  • Cons: Expensive for 10GB

Methodology: How we picked the best Metro by T-Mobile plans

To choose the best Metro by T-Mobile plans, we compared each of the carrier's offerings side-by-side, which was easy because there are only four. In ranking the plans, we emphasized data limits, prices, and perks. We also considered how each plan would benefit different types of smartphone users. WhistleOut constantly watches the mobile phone market and changes these rankings as necessary.

About Metro by T-Mobile

Metro by T-Mobile, formerly MetroPCS, is a subsidiary of T-Mobile that sells discounted services on its parent company's network. Customers on Metro get access to T-Mobile's 4G LTE network as well as the nation's largest 5G network. If you buy a phone from Metro, it will lock the phone to the network for some time, but you can unlock a Metro phone. If you find Metro by T-Mobile's plans enticing, be sure to read our comprehensive Metro by T-Mobile review to determine if the carrier is right for you.

Metro by T-Mobile's network

As an MVNO, Metro by T-Mobile operates on the T-Mobile network (big surprise!!). With Metro’s coverage, you get service on the third-best 4G LTE network with strong coverage in most urban areas but poor coverage in rural areas. You also get service on the largest 5G network in the country.

Metro vs. other MVNOs

Unfortunately, Metro's prices aren't very competitive. Yes, its plans are cheaper than similar plans from the major carriers, but Metro is one of the most expensive MVNOs. Mint Mobile, another T-Mobile MVNO, has similar plans for much less. However, Metro is one of the better MVNOs for extra perks, which most MVNOs lack. For some, extras like Amazon Prime memberships may make up for the higher prices.

Metro also tends to have more device deals than most other MVNOs,often offering several phones like the iPhone SE for free. Check out our guide to Metro by T-Mobile's deals and save even more with this carrier.

Metro by T-Mobile family plans

Another way Metro stands out from other MVNOs is through its family plans or multi-line discounts. Few MVNOs offer family plans, but Metro lowers its monthly rates per line for each additional one on your plan. You can find out more in our full guide to Metro by T-Mobile's family plans.
