T-Mobile Prepaid U.S. Pass eSIM for international travelers
T-Mobile Prepaid launches U.S. Pass eSIM for international visitors
  • T-Mobile Prepaid's new U.S. Pass is a prepaid eSIM built for international travelers visiting the United States—no paperwork, no contract, and no U.S. credit card required.
  • Plans start at just $25 for 7 days, with options up to 30 days for $50—all including unlimited 5G data across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.
  • Every plan includes premium hotspot data, cross-border connectivity, and perks like dining rewards and T-Mobile Tuesdays.
  • The U.S. Pass is available starting May 18, 2026 at T-Mobile's website.

T-Mobile Prepaid has launched the U.S. Pass, a short-term prepaid eSIM designed for international travelers visiting the United States. Available starting May 18, the U.S. Pass runs on T-Mobile's nationwide 5G network and covers the U.S., Mexico, and Canada under a single plan—with no paperwork, no store visit, and no surprises on your bill.

The U.S. Pass lets you buy your plan before you leave home, scan a QR code, and land already connected. With major global events drawing millions of international visitors to the U.S. this summer, T-Mobile is betting that travelers are tired of paying absurd roaming rates or scrambling for a SIM card at the airport.

U.S. Pass pricing and plan options

There are four U.S. Pass plans to choose from, scaled by trip length. All plans include unlimited talk and text across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, plus 50GB of premium 5G data in the U.S. The main difference between tiers is how much hotspot data you get.

10-Day Pass $30 50GB premium and

14-Day Pass $35 50GB premium and
28GB hotspot
5GB high-speed See at T-Mobile
30-Day Pass $50 50GB premium and
50GB hotspot
5GB high-speed See at T-Mobile

For most international visitors, the 7-Day Pass at $25 is the best. It covers a typical short trip and comes with 14GB of hotspot data, which is more than enough to keep a laptop or tablet connected throughout your stay. If you're staying longer or planning a road trip across the border into Mexico or Canada, the 14- or 30-Day Pass gives you a lot more room to breathe.

One difference you might notice with T-Mobile's travel plans is that video streaming is limited to standard definition on all plans, and speeds may slow for heavy data users after 50GB during busy periods. And, taxes and fees are not included in the advertised prices, so expect to pay a little more.

How to set up the U.S. Pass eSIM

If you've never used an eSIM before, the concept is simpler than it sounds. An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into your phone—no physical card, no SIM tray, no fumbling at the airport. You download a profile to your device and it connects to the carrier's network automatically.

Setup takes less than five minutes. Here's how it works:

  1. Purchase your U.S. Pass plan at T-Mobile's website before you travel.
  2. Receive a QR code by email.
  3. Scan the QR code to install the plan.
  4. When you arrive in the U.S., set T-Mobile as your active data line.
  5. Your plan activates automatically once your phone connects to T-Mobile's network.

Your phone needs to be eSIM-compatible and unlocked to use the U.S. Pass. Most flagship phones sold in the last few years support eSIM—including recent iPhones, Samsung Galaxy devices, and Google Pixels. If you're not sure, check your Settings app for an "eSIM" or "Digital SIM" option before you order.

Is your phone eSIM-compatible?

eSIM support is standard on most flagship phones sold since 2020. iPhones from the XS onward, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, and Google Pixel 3 and later all support eSIM.

If your phone is locked to your home carrier, you'll need to request an unlock before the U.S. Pass will work—most carriers do this for free once your contract is complete.

Your plan's clock doesn't start until you land. Buying it before you fly won't eat into your days. And since the U.S. Pass runs alongside your existing physical SIM, your home number stays active for calls and messages from home the entire time.

Extra perks included with the U.S. Pass

Beyond talk, text, and data, the U.S. Pass includes extras that most short-term visitor SIMs don't bother with. U.S. Pass customers get access to T-Mobile Tuesdays—T-Mobile's weekly perks program that typically includes freebies and discounts from major brands. You'll also get dining rewards and rental car discounts, which are genuinely useful if you're traveling around the country.

It's a nice touch that sets the U.S. Pass apart from a basic data SIM. You're not just buying connectivity—you're getting the same perks T-Mobile gives its regular prepaid customers.

Is the T-Mobile U.S. Pass worth it?

For international visitors heading to the U.S. this summer, the U.S. Pass is a smart buy. At $25 for a week of unlimited 5G data, hotspot, and cross-border coverage, it undercuts most daily roaming rates before you've even made it through customs. The digital-first setup means no airport kiosks, no paperwork, and no awkward conversations with a carrier rep in a language you might not speak.

In fact, if you're visiting the U.S. and your phone is unlocked and eSIM-ready, there's very little reason not to grab a U.S. Pass before you fly. Pick the duration that matches your trip, buy it ahead of time, and land already connected.
