Disney+ Guide

Article Summary

Disney+ is a streaming entertainment service owned by The Walt Disney Company featuring many of their hugely popular films and movies. At just $6.99/month, Disney+ is one of the more affordable streaming services available. Disney+ is compatible with most streaming devices as well as a wide variety of Smart TVs.

The Walt Disney Company is a juggernaut in our modern world. Wherever you turn, there’s Disney. This is especially true in entertainment, where Disney cranks out many of the most popular movies and TV shows. With all that content, it’s only natural that Disney has its own streaming service rather licensing out their products to the likes of Netflix of Amazon Prime Video. Disney+ is Disney’s main streaming service, playing host to the majority of Disney content.

What Is Disney+?

Disney+ is an on-demand video streaming service launched in 2019. A relative newcomer, Disney+ benefits from its globally recognized name and all of the inherent fandom that comes with that name. Disney+ brings all of your favorite family-friendly Disney content to your screens, including classics that have long been in the “Disney vault.”

How Much Does Disney+ Cost?

A subscription to Disney+ costs just $6.99/month. For the best value, you can purchase a package that also includes other Disney-owned streaming video services—i.e. Hulu, and ESPN+—for $12.99/month.

You can sign up for Disney+ on their website or through the Disney+ app on your mobile device or TV-streaming device. Disney+ offers a free 7-day trial after which you’ll be billed for the monthly subscription.

What Shows and Movies Are on Disney+?

Basically, everything that is owned by Disney is on Disney+. Of course, the simple answer only tells part of the story.

The Walt Disney Company owns a lot of content. Disney+ is the home to most company’s family friendly content. Hulu, on the other hand, plays host to Disney-owned content that leans more towards adult and mature audiences.

Disney+ streams some of the biggest film franchises in history including all of the Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Additionally, Disney+ streams current and classic shows from Disney Channel and National Geographic, classic Disney movies, and all of The Simpsons. Altogether, Disney+ has over 7,500 episodes of TV shows and over 500 movies.

Star Wars

All of the popular Star Wars movies are on Disney+, including the classic original trilogy, prequels, and the more recent films like The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Last but certainly not least is the extremely popular Disney+ original series The Mandalorian. This critically-acclaimed series comes packed with adventure, edge-of-your-seat storytelling, and the child (aka Baby Yoda).

Marvel

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has dominated box offices for the past decade and a half. Now it finds a home with Disney+. You’ll be able to watch the hit Avengers movies, not to mention Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and The Guardians of the Galaxy.

Pixar

Pixar is the Emeryville-based studio behind some of the most beloved animated movies in recent history. Disney+ is the streaming home of all things Pixar including the Toy Story movies, Cars movies and hits like WALL-E, Inside Out, and Coco.

Classic Disney

A streaming service with the Disney name wouldn’t be complete without Disney classic movies. Before Disney+ launched, many of Disney’s older movies were locked in “the vault,” only be released one at a time. Now, Disney+ gives subscribers access to all of Disney’s classics like Cinderella, Snow White, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and so much more.

National Geographic

Travel the world and get ready for pure education with National Geographic. Disney+ is the streaming home of all of Nat Geo’s content, including originals like The World According to Jeff Goldblum

How Do I Watch Disney+?

Disney+ is very easy to watch and is compatible with most major streaming devices. The Disney+ app even comes pre-installed in many Smart TVs made by LG and Samsung. If the app isn’t already installed in your TV, you should be able to download it using your Smart TV’s operating system.

Additionally, Disney+ is supported by plug and play streaming devices like Amazon Fire and Roku. Take a look at the table below to see all the major devices that are compatible with Disney+.
