APN (Access Point Name) settings allow your device to connect to your carrier’s network for internet browsing, messaging, and data access. In short, APN settings are the configuration details your phone uses to connect to your mobile provider’s data network.
Most newer smartphones automatically configure APN settings when you insert a SIM or activate an eSIM. However, you might need to enter or adjust them manually if you’re facing data connection problems, or if you’ve recently switched to Boost Mobile with your own device. Without the correct APN settings, your phone won’t be able to access mobile data.
Below, you’ll find step-by-step instructions to check or change your Boost Mobile APN settings for Android and iPhone.

Switch plans and save
Boost Mobile is an MVNO that provides service by using AT&T's network for cellular service. (Boost shut down its own 5G network on November 15, 2025, and is now exclusively an AT&T MVNO). That means you can get top coverage for a fraction of the price. After testing Boost Mobile firsthand, we love Boost’s affordable plans and excellent 5G coverage.
If you find you need more data near the end of the month, consider upgrading to a plan with more data. Choose from Boost Mobile's best plans to fill your cellular data needs.
When should you update your APN settings?
You should view and update your APN settings if you’re unable to connect to the internet or have recently changed carriers. However, before adjusting anything, check our data connection troubleshooting guide to ensure your mobile data is properly configured.
Many carriers, including Boost Mobile, require specific APN settings for their network to work correctly. Without the right configuration, you might experience no data access or extremely slow speeds. While most phones automatically set up APNs, you may have to enter them manually if your data isn’t working despite having an active plan.
Always use the exact APN details provided by your carrier and restart your device after updating them. You won’t be able to access your data with incorrect APN changes, so only modify these settings if you’re sure your phone is unlocked and compatible with Boost Mobile.Lauren Hannula
