Spectrum Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that gets you Verizon coverage at affordable cell phone plan prices. With its unlimited tiers starting at merely $40/month for a single line, Spectrum Mobile lets you save money each month. So long as you’re a Spectrum internet customer, you’re eligible for its mobile network.

Unlike other carriers that provide an overwhelming roster of plans, Spectrum keeps options light with just three packages: two different unlimited tiers and a By the Gig option. Our top pick is the Spectrum Mobile Unlimited Plus plan. Read on to learn about all Spectrum Mobile plans available today.

How we picked the best Spectrum Mobile plans
  • Price & value
  • We ensured you’re getting the most bang for your buck without sacrificing on the essentials to keep you connected.
  • High-speed data
  • We looked at whether the amount of guaranteed “premium” data was reasonable for the plan price, and flagged if you’re being overcharged for data you likely don’t need.
  • Coverage & network reliability
  • We evaluated each carrier’s nationwide 4G LTE and 5G coverage to predict your service quality (no dropped calls allowed!).
  • Plan extras and perks
  • If you get free Netflix or a hefty hotspot, we factored those in relative to the cost of the plan.

Best Spectrum Mobile
Unlimited Plans

Spectrum Mobile offers affordable unlimited data plans for your streaming, gaming, and social media perusing needs.

4.5 out of 5 overall

Spectrum Mobile | Unlimited Plus | $40/month—Best unlimited data plan

At just $40/month for a single line, Unlimited Plus is the best unrestricted Spectrum Mobile data package. It features all-you-can-use minutes and messages with a generous 50GB/line high-speed mobile data allowance. Luckily, there are no overage charges after that threshold, just data throttling to 1Mbps down and 512Kbps up.

On mobile data, you’ll have access to high-definition (HD) video streaming for watching shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation reruns on Paramount+. Plus, Spectrum throws in a few international features, including free calling to Canada and Mexico, free international texting from the United States to over 200 international countries, and modest international roaming rates.

Unlike most major carriers, Spectrum Mobile lacks perks like free streaming service subscriptions or cloud storage. However, its affordability balances out its barebones amenities. Plus, you'll also find deals on Spectrum Mobile's top phones to help you save even more.

  • Pros: Unlimited talk/text/data, 50GB/line monthly deprioritization threshold, HD video streaming quality on mobile
  • Cons: Not many perks

4 out of 5 overall

Spectrum Mobile | Unlimited | $30/month—Best value unlimited plan

A competitive $30/month for one line gets you unlimited calling, texting, and data with Spectrum Mobile’s Unlimited tier. You’ll also appreciate a high 30GB/line per month deprioritization threshold. After that, Spectrum limits mobile data speeds to 1Mbps download and 512Kbps upload, making the included Wi-Fi hotspot access a welcome reprieve for mobile data usage.

Whereas Unlimited Plus provides HD streaming video quality on mobile internet, the vanilla Unlimited tier caps streams at DVD quality (or standard definition). Thankfully, Wi-Fi removes that restriction, and many streaming services such as Hulu let you download content for offline viewing. You can also expect the same international benefits found on the Unlimited Plus plan, keeping you connected with people traveling or living abroad.

  • Pros: Unlimited talk/text/data, 20GB/line monthly deprioritization threshold, international features
  • Cons: Lacks perks, only SD streaming video quality on mobile internet

Best Budget Spectrum Mobile Plan

Want to save big bucks as a Spectrum Mobile customer? Consider a low-cost, limited data plan!

4 out of 5 overall

Spectrum Mobile | By the Gig | Starting at $20/month—Best cheap plan

Although unlimited plans are the industry standard, a limited data package lets low- to no data users reduce monthly billing costs. Spectrum Mobile’s By the Gig tier starts at $20/month for 1GB of data. Each additional gig of data sets you back another $5. So you’ll pay $30 for a month where you burn 2GB of mobile data.

Because of its shared data, By the Gig offers a cost-effective solution for families with modest data needs. For instance, by signing up for By the Gig with three lines and staying under 1GB of total data usage, you’ll pay just $20/month. However, there’s a 5GB monthly deprioritization data threshold. You’ll still enjoy restriction-free talk and text and a few international features.

If higher data use is common, By the Gig becomes pricey to the point where Spectrum’s Unlimited or Unlimited Plus plans are better choices. But if you leverage wireless networking, you can cut down on your mobile data usage. Notably, Spectrum Mobile offers nationwide Wi-Fi hotspot access. Therefore, even while away from your Charter Spectrum home internet, you can connect to wireless access points.

  • Pros: Affordable, shared data, international calling/texting features
  • Cons: Pricey with additional data usage

Best Spectrum Mobile Family Plans

Plan Single line 2+ linesDetails
Unlimited Plus $40/month $40/month Go to plan
Unlimited $30/month $30/month Go to plan

Spectrum Mobile offers compelling multi-line savings for its Unlimited Plus and base Unlimited tiers. For two or more lines with Unlimited, you’ll pay just $30/line per month. Unlimited Plus sets you back $40/line with the same price for each additional line.

Ultimately, the best Spectrum Mobile family plan depends on your needs and budget. Unlimited is a better value, but Unlimited Plus provides HD streaming plus a higher full-speed data allowance (50GB versus 30GB).

Methodology: How WhistleOut rates cell phone plans

WhistleOut evaluates phone plans based on the following criteria:

  • Price & value: Not all cheap plans are “bad,” and not all expensive plans are worth it. We look at everything a plan includes and compare it both to other plans from the same carrier, as well as similar plans from competitors in the market, to determine whether the value is consistent with the price.
  • High-speed data: Also called “premium” data, this is how much data you get at full 4G/5G speeds before they can or will slow down. The more guaranteed high-speed data the plan includes, the better experience you’ll generally have—but there’s also usually a limit to how much you actually need, and we ensure that you’re not overpaying for data that will go unused.
  • Coverage & network reliability: The breadth of each carrier’s 4G LTE and 5G networks determines your reception and service. Particularly in the case of 5G, some carriers offer far more robust coverage than others, which affects how their phone plans perform in different parts of the country.
  • Plan extras and perks: In addition to the basics—talk, text, and data—some plans throw in freebies like hotspot allowances, cloud storage, entertainment subscriptions, or service discounts.

Our mobile experts leveraged proprietary data and real-world customer feedback to evaluate the best Spectrum Mobile plans. We considered plan-specific elements, including perks, premium data allowances, and mobile hotspot allocations. After performing hands-on testing and extensive research, including customer feedback, we picked the plans we feel meet the needs of most people.
