In the world of prepaid phone carriers, Visible and US Mobile are two of the best options you'll find. Both providers offer excellent network coverage, access to 5G speeds, and cheap unlimited plans at virtually the exact same prices.
Comparing the two comes down to minute details, such as hotspot allowances and speeds or entertainment perks and family plan availability.
Generally speaking, US Mobile's unlimited plans are more expensive but offer more bang for your buck. Visible takes a more bare-bones approach, so its plans are cheaper, but you'll miss out on streaming perks and high-speed mobile hotspots.
While we've declared a winner below, it's by the slightest of margins in each category—truly, the best carrier for you will depend on your coverage area, your household makeup, and your personal phone usage habits. Let's dive into the details.
US Mobile vs. Visible Wireless summary
US Mobile and Visible are two of the best prepaid cell phone carriers on the market, with top-shelf coverage and incredibly affordable prices. If you're looking for a variety of plan options, included perks, or multi-line bundles, US Mobile is the better choice. If you just want an unlimited plan with great coverage without the extras, Visible is the way to go.

TL;DR - US Mobile and Visible pros and cons
Here are the most important details to know about US Mobile and Visible.

- Unlimited data
- Full-speed mobile hotspot
- T-Mobile, AT&T, or Verizon coverage
- Family plans
- Streaming perk with 3+ premium lines
- Generally more expensive
- No perks for single-lines
Visible:
- Unlimited data
- Unlimited mobile hotspot (speeds capped)
- Verizon 5G network
- Great prices
- No family plans
- No streaming perks
US Mobile vs. Visible: Coverage
US Mobile and Visible Wireless are mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs), meaning they piggyback off of a larger network to provide coverage for their customers. In this case, Visible runs on Verizon's network, while US Mobile offers the option to pick Verizon, AT&T, or T-Mobile as your network of choice. Smartphones that work on Verizon's network are generally compatible whether switching to US Mobile or Visible.
Verizon's 4G LTE network has perennially come up aces, with the best and fastest 4G coverage nationwide. And while its 5G coverage is lacking compared to its competitors (21.04% nationwide coverage compared to AT&T's 41.11% and T-Mobile's 49.24%), it does have the fastest 5G speeds on the market, which are accessible via both Visible and US Mobile depending on your chosen plan.
For US Mobile customers in T-Mobile's coverage area, the story is slightly different. T-Mobile comes up last in nationwide 4G coverage due to its relatively skimpy availability in rural areas, but its 5G network is dominant across the country and offers notably fast speeds via its mid-band 5G makeup.
AT&T offers the second-largest 4G LTE and 5G networks in the nation. It offers US Mobile customers an excellent blend of rural coverage and high data speeds in urban areas.
Because both Visible and US Mobile offer access to Verizon's best-in-class 4G LTE network—and because US Mobile customers who choose T-Mobile or AT&T likely have better local coverage on that network—we're calling this one a draw.

US Mobile vs. Visible: Price
Let's start with the best news of all: the most expensive unlimited plan from either Visible or US Mobile each costs $45/month or below. Both carriers' top-tier unlimited options—the Unlimited Premium plan for US Mobile and the Visible+ Pro plan for Visible—provide massive value to their customers without hiking up the price tag. You get unlimited talk, text, and data from both carriers, along with the fastest 5G speeds available from both networks. US Mobile offers up to 10GB of high-speed international roaming data in over 100 countries, while Visible provides unlimited roaming in Mexico and Canada (albeit at slower speeds).
Each carrier offers unlimited plans which include premium data. Unlimited Premium provides uncapped unlimited premium high-speed data (meaning your speeds won't ever slow down), similarly to the Visible+ and Visible+ Pro plans, which also offer unlimited premium data. Both carriers provide unlimited hotspot access, but where US Mobile offers a massive 50GB of high-speed data before your hotspot speeds drop, neither the Visible+ nor Visible+ Pro plans have such high-speed guaranteed allowance, capping your speeds at 10-15Mbps.
US Mobile and Visible annual pricing
US Mobile and Visible now offer annual pricing for their unlimited plans. These plans provide 12 months of service at a discounted rate, but you must pay for the entire plan upfront.
US Mobile's unlimited annual plans are:
- Unlimited Starter: $270/year ($22.50/month, 10% off)
- Unlimited Premium: $390/year ($32.50/month, 26% off)
Visible's unlimited annual plans are:
- Visible: $275/year ($22/month, 8% off)
- Visible+: $375/year ($32/month, 9% off)
- Visible+: $450/year ($37.50/month, 8% off)
Check out our annual plans guide to learn if these plans are right for you.
Neither carrier offers multi-line discounts at all (more on this below), but you can create family plans with US Mobile.
- $50/month
- 100GB premium data + 50GB high-speed hotspot, then unlimited
- Family plans available
- $45/month
- Unlimited premium data + unlimited 5Mbps hotspot
- No perks or discounts available
Each carrier's base-level unlimited plan follows a similar pattern as far as value. Both US Mobile's Unlimited Starter plan and Visible's basic "Visible Unlimited" plan start at $25/month. That said, with US Mobile you also get 70GB of premium data and a 10GB mobile hotspot for that price, while Visible offers no premium data for its base plan, and you only get access to Verizon's mid-tier 5G network (rather than its super-speedy mmWave 5G).
Additionally, US Mobile offers several other plans at cheaper prices for those who don't need unlimited everything. You can choose data plans ranging from a mere 2GB to a respectable 10GB to share per month, as well as a talk-and-text-only plan for those who don't need any data at all. These plans range from $10/month to $20/month, making them accessible for a variety of budgets. Visible, on the other hand, has just the two aforementioned unlimited plans.
Since we're paid to nitpick, we have to give US Mobile the slightest edge over Visible here. The additional features of its unlimited plans offer more value for the price compared to Visible's plans, and you can bring that cost down even further with multi-line discounts that Visible doesn't offer. In addition to its unlimited plan options, US Mobile also provides a wider variety of plans at cheaper price points that make it a great choice for every budget.
US Mobile vs. Visible: Perks
Visible may be one of our favorite prepaid carriers, but one area where it's severely lacking is included perks. Sadly, Visible offers nothing in terms of entertainment subscriptions, cloud storage, or similar.
US Mobile, on the other hand, offers a slew of entertainment perks to choose from, including streaming audio subscriptions like Apple Music, Audible, and Spotify; video subscriptions like Netflix, HBO Max, the Disney Bundle, and Apple TV+; and gaming subscriptions like Xbox Live Gold and Playstation Plus.
- Disney Bundle
- Spotify
- Xbox Gold
- Only offered with 3+ lines
There's a catch, though: these perks are only included with its top-tier Unlimited Premium plan, and they only kick in if you have a monthly family plan of 3 lines or more. If you qualify, you can choose one free perk for your plan.
As annoying as we find the limitations on US Mobile's perks, the fact that they offer any at all gives the carrier the automatic win in this category.
US Mobile vs. Visible: High-speed data
As mentioned previously, both US Mobile and Visible provide an allowance of "premium" data within their unlimited data plans. This is a set amount of data that will perform at the fastest network speeds available (4G LTE and 5G), guaranteed.
Why is this significant? Many prepaid carriers are subject to data deprioritization, where your data service is subject to slowing during times of peak traffic (think mornings and evenings) in favor of customers on the hosting major carrier's network—in this case, Verizon or T-Mobile. Premium data allowances provide a set target where your data won't be deprioritized until you reach that threshold.
Here's a comparison of Visible's and US Mobile's high-speed data allowances within their unlimited plans:
US Mobile vs. Visible: Premium data

||
|---|---|---|---|
| Plan | Premium data |
Plan | Premium data |
| Unlimited Premium | 100GB | Visible+ Pro plan | Unlimited |
| Unlimited Starter | 70GB | Visible+ plan | Unlimited |
You can see that overall, US Mobile is more generous with its high-speed data allowances—both of its unlimited plans offer a respectable amount of premium data, with Unlimited Premium featuring a massive 100GB. The equally-priced Visible+ Pro plan offers just half of the premium data, while its basic plan provides none at all... meaning your data could be deprioritized at any time.
The data doesn't lie (get it?): this round goes to US Mobile.
US Mobile vs. Visible: Mobile hotspot data
No Wi-Fi nearby? No problem! A mobile hotspot lets you connect other devices to the internet via your phone's data, no matter where you are. Both US Mobile and Visible allow customers hotspot access on all of their plans, albeit in different ways.
US Mobile vs. Visible: Hotspot data allowances

|---|---|---|---|
| Plan | Hotspot | Plan | Hotspot |
| Unlimited Premium | 50GB high-speed | Visible+ Pro plan | Unlimited (up to 15Mbps speeds) |
| Unlimited Starter | 10GB high-speed | Visible+ plan | Unlimited (up to 10Mbps speeds) |
| Data bundles (2GB to 10GB) | Up to plan data limit (high-speed) |
Visible plan | Unlimited (up to 5Mbps speeds) |
Each carrier provides hotspot connectivity on its unlimited data plans. US Mobile provides dedicated high-speed hotspot allowances on both of its unlimited plans—50GB and 10GB for Unlimited Premium and Unlimited Starter respectively. This means you'll get 4G LTE or 5G speeds for that amount of data, but once you use it up, you'll need to wait until the next month to use your hotspot again. Visible, on the other hand, offers unlimited hotspot access with its unlimited plans, but your speeds are capped at 5Mbps, 10Mbps, and 15Mbps depending on your plan (low 4G speeds), and you're not always guaranteed to reach that max speed, either.
For US Mobile's lower-data plan bundles, you can still use your phone's hotspot even without the dedicated allotment—your data will simply come out of your overall plan allowance.
So what's better—unlimited hotspot access at slower speeds, or a set amount of hotspot data at the fastest speeds available? Honestly, it's entirely down to how you use your phone. If you're frequently working on the go, the 50GB of high-speed hotspot provided with US Mobile's Unlimited Premium should be plenty to get you through a full month before you hit that limit. But considering most people rarely access their hotspot, Visible's lower speeds should be fine for the occasional connection. This one is a draw.
US Mobile vs. Visible: Family Plans
Paying for a multi-person household is expensive enough (just take a look at my grocery bill!), which is why family plans are so important to take advantage of. You can connect your entire family under the same bill at a cheaper price—and the more lines you add, the cheaper each line typically gets.
US Mobile has a unique approach to its family plans, with two versions to choose from. Firstly, you can opt for one of its Shareable Data plans, with options to choose 2GB or 10GB to share across as many lines as you choose. The first line will cost the full amount for the plan, ranging from $10/month to $20/month, and then each additional line you add to share the account will be another $8 per line. Everyone on the plan shares unlimited talk and text, plus the data you've purchased. So, for example, a family of four that wants to share 10GB of data between them would pay $20 for the first line, plus $8 each for the additional 3 lines ($24 per month), for a total of $44/month. Note you can always purchase additional data for $2/GB.
Alternatively, you can opt for either of US Mobile's unlimited data plans. There is no multi-line discount, but the price is already low enough that you'll generally save.
Here's how the discounts break down.
US Mobile unlimited family plan pricing breakdown
| Plan | Single-line price | Multi-line prices |
|---|---|---|
| Unlimited Premium | $44/month | 2 lines: $88/month ($44/line) 3 lines: $132/month ($44/line) 4 lines: $176/month ($44/line) |
| Unlimited Starter | $25/month | 2 lines: $50/month ($25/line) 3 lines: $75/month ($25/line) 4 lines: $100/month ($25/line) |
US Mobile also offers free streaming and gaming perks with family plans of three or more lines (jump back up to our breakdown on perks for a refresher).
Previously, Visible offered a very cool "Party Pay" option, where you could bundle multiple lines together into a single "party" with each person still responsible for their own cell phone bill. Depending on how many people in your party, each line could be as cheap as $25. However, Party Pay is sadly no more... which gives the automatic win to US Mobile.
US Mobile vs. Visible: Customer service
Before we compare customer service for each carrier, it's important to note that most people contact customer support (and write subsequent reviews) when they're experiencing an issue, rather than when everything is going peachy keen. So it stands to reason that most phone carriers' reviews skew negative (this also goes for the major carriers with far more support resources at their disposal).
That said, customer reviews for US Mobile are surprisingly positive. From their Trustpilot scores to their respective Reddit community, many people seem satisfied with their experiences on the network, and the carrier seems very responsive to customer comments. Visible, on the other hand, doesn't have nearly as good of an outward appearance—its Trustpilot scores are far lower than US Mobile's, and its BBB reviews leave much to be desired. But again, it's incredibly hard to parse out which carrier actually offers better support
While the evidence seems to point to a better experience with US Mobile, we're going to give Visible the benefit of the doubt and call this a tie.
US Mobile vs. Visible Recap
Visible Wireless and US Mobile have quickly become two of the best prepaid carriers in terms of value, price, and coverage. We honestly think you'd be happy with either carrier (just make sure to check your local coverage before picking a network with US Mobile!).
While US Mobile edges out Visible in most categories, it truly comes down to what you value most highly from your wireless carrier. Methodology
Our team of mobile experts used proprietary research and customer feedback to evaluate US Mobile and Visible Wireless. We compared the two carriers according to four main factors: network coverage quality, monthly prices per line and per family, plan inclusions, and customer service scores and reviews. We then broke our findings down further to evaluate specific elements within both carriers' seven total phone plans, like data allowances and included perks.
Based on our extensive industry experience, we weighed the benefits of each carrier's options based on the needs of the average user or family and chose a winner that would suit most customers' needs. We only compared Visible vs. US Mobile—no other carrier's offerings influenced our evaluations.
