Spectrum vs Xfinity

Article Summary

In this matchup we compare two big cable internet providers Spectrum and Xfinity.

Straight out of the gates, this might be one of the most equal matches we've seen between two internet providers.

With plans and prices that are very similar, it is easy to see why both companies are so evenly matched. Take a further look into the comparison to see just how closely Xfinity and Spectrum stack up against each other.

Xfinity vs Spectrum

Xfinity vs Spectrum: Internet Speeds

Winner: Tie

There is very little, if anything at all, separating Xfinity and Spectrum when it comes to internet speeds. The two ISPs offer a wide range of top speeds from 25Mbps all the way up to 1,000Mbps. Though it's important to note that speeds vary based on location.

While Spectrum's gigabit internet for homes isn't widely available–Xfinity's gigabit internet is just as limited, but they do extend the service to more households than Spectrum.

Cost, Data, and Value for Money

Winner: Xfinity

Monthly Cost

When it comes to cost we will call Xfinity the winner. To be honest, we're only calling Xfinity the winner because we don't feel completely right about calling so many categories a tie in this comparison. The truth of the matter is that when comparing similar products each provider's prices are pretty similar with Spectrum charging slightly more.

Installation and Other Fees

Both Xfinity and Spectrum charge installation fees and charge for equipment (modem, router). However, as is quite common with internet providers, both companies often offer deals to offset these extra charges. Anyone considering either option should check to see if they can take advantage of deals that might get them free installation or even free equipment.

Data Allowance

Finally an area in this comparison is a draw. Spectrum and Xfinity do not have data caps on their internet plans.

Deals

Spectrum and Xfinity are big cable/internet companies and as is typical with such companies they both seemingly always have some sort of deal happening. Deals primarily target new customers via introductory rates. Just remember that the introductory rate does expire and you will eventually be paying the full cost.

Availability: Xfinity vs Spectrum

Winner: Spectrum

Xfinity's internet services are available in more states than Spectrum internet. However, Spectrum's presence in denser parts of the country makes it available to more than double the amount of people Xfinity is available to.

Spectrum does win this category but Xfinity isn't exactly a slouch and is pretty widely available.

Customer Reviews: Xfinity vs Spectrum

Winner: Tie

An internet provider/cable/telecommunications company with excellent customer reviews across the board is basically a unicorn. Spectrum and Xfinity are no unicorns when it comes to customer satisfaction, but they aren't exactly at the bottom of the pack. In fact, they are just about right in the middle. Neither company stands out, especially when compared to each other. So, we have to call another tie in this close race.

Bundle Packages: Spectrum vs Xfinity

Winner: Tie

Yes, another tie. Both Xfinity and Spectrum offer various combinations of internet and cable TV bundles. Additionally, both providers offer bundles with home phone lines. Each are very similarly priced and include similar perks (channels, internet speed). There just isn't a way around it. Xfinity and Spectrum tie yet again.

Winner: Xfinity vs Spectrum

 Tie!!!!!

Big surprise! Spectrum might get a hair of an advantage on a couple categories but when you look at the big picture the two companies really do stack up right next to each other. There isn't a single feature between the two that really makes one stand out over the other. Xfinity and Spectrum are essentially equals.
