5GB of data is not a lot if you use your hotspot regularly. It will get you around 80 hours of web browsing, but that amount drops fast if you start streaming music, watching videos, or scrolling social media. It’s better to look at this plan as having a hotspot in case of emergencies, not something to rely on every day.
The Bronze Unlimited plan also includes unlimited talk and text and 10GB of high-speed data. After you exceed 10GB, you can technically keep using your data, but Straight Talk throttles it to 2G speeds. 2G is extremely slow and things like music and video streaming will be almost impossible.

Straight Talk’s Unlimited International plan is specifically built for international calling. Like the Platinum Unlimited plan, it also offers calling to over 1,000 destinations. But, it goes even farther by covering unlimited minutes to Mexico, Canada, China, and India. If international calling is your most important factor, this might be the better plan for you.
Where Unlimited International falls short is with its 5GB hotspot. That’s four times less than the platinum plan and the same amount as the bronze and silver plans. If you use your hotspot frequently, Unlimited International is probably not going to give you the amount of data you need.

Monthly cost
The plans offered by Straight Talk stretch from $35/month to $65/month. The higher your plan’s cost, the more mobile hotspot data and perks you’ll get. Make sure you know your needs and your budget. There’s no sense in paying twice as much per month just to get hotspot data that you aren’t going to use.
Data amount
How frequently do you use a mobile hotspot? If you only use a hotspot occasionally or if it’s just a backup in case your regular internet temporarily goes out, you can probably get by with just 5GB a month.
