Samsung is set to take the wraps off the Galaxy S9 in less than a week, but German tech publication WinFuture and prolific leaker Evan Blass seem to have spoiled almost the entire surprise. If the leaks are accurate, the main piece of information we're missing is the Galaxy S9's price.
As expected, the leaks suggest the that the Galaxy S9 and the larger Galaxy S9+ won't make too many departures from last year's Galaxy S8 family in terms of design; the "infinity display" is back in 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch variants, just like last year.
Leaked renders do however reveal one slight change: the fingerprint reader will sit below the camera, rather than directly next to it. The S9 family is also expected to be available in a fresh range of colours. Black is back, but "Coral Blue", "Lilac Purple", and "Titanium Grey" are also on the cards.
The Galaxy S9's big new feature is set to be a variable aperture camera, as teased by Samsung's pre-announcement tagline (the camera, reimagined). What this means is the Galaxy S9's primary camera will be able to mechanically swap between a f/2.4 lens for images where you want extra depth and a f/1.5 lens for improved low-light performance or a shallower depth of field for macros and portraiture. While the Galaxy S9 is tipped to just have the one camera on the back, the Galaxy S9+ is set to have a secondary zoom lens.

Other key specifications for the Galaxy S9 are expected to include a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ display, Samsung's inhouse Exynos 9810 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a front-facing 8MP camera, IP68 water-resistance, and a 3,000mAh battery.
Other key specifications for the Galaxy S9+ are expected to include a 6.2-inch Quad HD+ display, Samsung's inhouse Exynos 9810 processor, 6GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a front-facing 8MP camera, IP68 water-resistance, and a 3,500mAh battery.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy S9 could start as early as March 1, ahead of either a March 8 or March 16 release date.
We'll be on the ground at Samsung's press event in Barcelona, so be sure to check back next Monday morning for the official news and hands on impressions.
