When it comes to internet speeds both Cox and Xfinity offer lightning-fast speeds through their fiber internet plans, so they both get 5 stars here. However, Xfinity edges out Cox in this category because they do have a plan that offers more speed compared to Cox's fastest plan, giving users download speeds of up to 1.2Gbps.

This isn't the only reason we've picked Xfinity as the winner here. Most of us won't even need speeds that fast, in fact, it's a waste of money for a lot of us. If we look at the other internet plans available, Xfinity offer more options in terms of speed tiers than Cox does.

Both Xfinity and Cox offer internet plans at around the same price range, however, Xfinity's plans give you more value for your money. An Xfinity plan that costs the same as a Cox internet plan will give you faster speeds with the same amount of data.

Both carriers require at least a 12-month contract with their internet plans so your price is locked for 12 months, then is subject to a price increase.

Installation and Other Fees

When it comes to their cable internet plans, both Xfinity and Cox charge similar amounts for installation, although Xfinity comes out slightly cheaper. Fiber internet is where the price really changes. Xfinity charges significantly more for installation of their fiber internet plans compared to Cox.

Data Allowance

Xfinity's cable internet plans come with unlimited data, whereas Cox has a 1.25TB data limit. That's still a huge amount and is more than enough data for most households. Yet, Xfinity's unlimited data is a better deal.

Once again, fiber internet is where we see a difference. Xfinity's fiber internet plans give you unlimited data, so you really don't have to monitor your data usage. Stream videos in 4K, play online games all day, and upload YouTube videos to your followers all month long without having to worry about running out data.
