AT&T Bundles

As America's third-largest internet provider behind Comcast and Charter Spectrum, AT&T offers myriad varieties of internet service and DIRECTV streaming/cable with wide availability across the country. You can save a few bucks by bundling these services together—from basic cable packages with moderate download speeds to ultra-fast gigabit internet with all the channels.

The value you get from AT&T internet bundles depends largely on where you live and which options are available in your area. If you live somewhere with a fiber internet connection, then bundling with AT&T is definitely the way to go. If you’re stuck with a DSL connection, you can find more affordable DSL internet elsewhere, or you can go with a satellite internet provider.

Let’s get into more detail on AT&T’s bundles and package options.

Is AT&T internet good?

This answer depends on what connection type is available where you live: AT&T DSL internet or AT&T fiber internet. Fiber can reach speeds up to 5Gbps (which is amazing), while DSL internet maxes out at 100Mbps (which is still very respectable, but nowhere near gigabit speeds).

AT&T Packages

AT&T offers home internet, TV, and phone service, and you can combine any of those three services into a bundle.  You don’t need to combine all three services to qualify for a discount, but doing so snags you the best overall deal.

AT&T $5/month AutoPay discounts

AutoPay is a service that draws your payment automatically every month. If you opt into AutoPay, AT&T will give you a $5/month discount. That means you’ll save $60/year and you won’t have to worry about manually paying your bill. That’s a win-win.

AT&T DIRECTV packages

There are four different DIRECTV (I’m sorry if it seems like I’m yelling) packages to choose from:

DIRECTV Packages
DIRECTV Package Channels Price*
ENTERTAINMENT 90+ $89.99/mo.
CHOICE
125+ $94.99/mo.
ULTIMATE 160+ $124.99/mo.
PREMIER 185+ $169.99/mo.

*Price valid as of 10/7/2025

Here’s a brief overview of what to expect from each AT&T TV package:

  • ENTERTAINMENT: All the cable essentials. Expect your local ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC networks, along with basic sports channels like ESPN and ESPN2, as well as kids programming (Disney Channel and Nickelodeon).
  • CHOICE: All the ENTERTAINMENT-included channels, plus sports-specific networks like ESPNEWS, ESPNU, NBA TV, SEC Network, Tennis Channel, and TVG.
  • ULTIMATE: Every cable classic channel, along with more niche channels like MTV Classic, National Geographic Wildlife, NHL Network, Oxygen Network, and BBC World News.
  • PREMIER: Every popular channel you can think of, plus premium channels like HBO MAX, Cinemax, Showtime, and Starz.

Ultimately, the TV package you choose will depend on your channel preferences. But it’s a big deal that DIRECTV covers so many essential channels in its cheapest TV package. If most of your TV-watching revolves around your local networks and basic cable channels like ESPN, TNT, and HGTV, you’ll probably be just fine with the ENTERTAINMENT package.

Unless you have a specific channel that you need, it’s probably not worth paying for anything above the CHOICE TV package. The PREMIER package, in particular, feels pricey at $169.99/month. You could get more bang for your buck by choosing a cheaper DIRECTV channel package and just subscribing to the specific premium channels you love.

But if you love feeling like a god while holding the remote controller, the PREMIER package is certainly cheaper than paying for cable and all of those premium channels separately.

What’s the difference between DIRECTV Streaming app + device and DIRECTV?

DIRECTV Streaming (formerly known as DIRECTV STREAM) is streamed over an internet connection, whereas DIRECTV is powered by satellite.  You can bundle either TV service with your AT&T internet.

You can use WhistleOut’s address lookup tool to see all the internet options for your neighborhood

Whether you live in an area with fiber connection or not, you’ll still need to figure out what internet speeds you need. One of the most important factors in deciding on an internet plan is the number of people you have in your household. The more people you have, the more internet speeds you’ll need to go around. As a rule of thumb, you can assume about 25Mbps per person. So, for a household of four, you’d want at least the Internet 100 AT&T plan.

Run a quick speed test to see what internet speeds you get at home right now

Running a speed test will give you something to compare against. If you feel like your internet connection is too slow, or plenty fast, that will give you a better idea of what AT&T internet package to sign up for.

AT&T home phone service

You may be dubious about the idea of a home phone in this day and age, but AT&T actually offers a lot of features that might make it worth it for you. Do you remember Caller ID, for example? Your home phone can tell you who’s calling even if you don’t have their number saved in an address book. This especially helps when you’re trying to avoid certain spammy calls. You also get unlimited calls within the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and the Northern Marianas.

AT&T also offers the Phone International Plus add-on that gives you about a $0.05/minute discount on most international calls. For some folks contacting loved ones, that discount can be a big deal, but for most people, you’d probably be better off using a video conferencing app.

Should I use AT&T for my cell phone plan?

That’s a good question. AT&T’s unlimited data plans offer awesome perks like free HBO Max and tons of hotspot data. If you live in an area with strong AT&T coverage, you should definitely consider getting a cell phone plan

AT&T Triple-Play Bundles

Triple-play bundles hook you up with internet, TV, and home phone services. You technically get the best value by bundling all three AT&T services together, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to get a home phone line, for example, in order to save money. But for those of you who want the whole AT&T enchilada, you can check out the triple-play offers.

AT&T Double-Play Bundles

If you want to ditch the home phone, you can just bundle AT&T internet and DIRECTV services together. Basically any combination of internet and TV package is available to you; you just need to choose what fits best for you.

To narrow it down, you should first figure out TV channels you can’t live without, and what internet speeds you’ll need to service the entire household. For example, I would probably stick with the ENTERTAINMENT TV package (I mostly just care about ESPN), and I would go for the 100 Internet package for the three of us in my household.

AT&T Bundles: Is it Worth It?

Bundles are constantly advertised as money-savers, but just how much money are we actually saving? Let’s compare an AT&T bundle price with the cost of purchasing home internet and TV separately.

  • AT&T Internet 300 Mbps (fiber connection): $55/month
  • AT&T ENTERTAINMENT TV package: $94.99/month
  • Modem rental: $10/month
    • Total: $159.99/month

In this particular example, you save $10/month on your home services. It may not sound like much, but that ends up being $120 you save over the course of a year. That’s basically the same price as a new video game. In theory, you could bundle your AT&T services and buy yourself a new video game with the money you saved. That’s motivation enough for me.

Pros & cons of AT&T Bundles
  • Awesome fiber internet speeds and prices
  • Save at least $5/month in bundling services
  • DSL internet is too pricey

Bottom line: There are tons of different AT&T bundles to choose from, but you definitely get the best deal when you have a fiber internet connection. AT&T’s DSL internet prices are really expensive. Even with DSL internet, you can save money by bundling your services together. To get the best value, choose an AT&T fiber internet plan, and bundle the AT&T TV package that gives you all the channels you need.
